When we’re introduced to the human encampment on Pandora and shown the rapid expansion of its human-friendly environment, we’re given a brief explanation as to why the government bodies of Earth are so interested in the planet in the first place. It turns out that the Earth is quickly deteriorating, and mankind will soon need a new celestial body to call h
Ubisoft has a strong interest in open-world games that borders on obsession, so much so that gamers were ready to believe that the Splinter Cell remake would be open-world , despite the fact that Splinter Cell has no real business being so. Of course, there is nothing inherently wrong with open-world design, but Ubisoft franchises like Assassin’s Creed are routinely poked fun at for having remarkably rote and predictable exploration elements that boil down to following endless map markers and scaling towers. Indeed, this approach to making open-world games has reached a point of parody, especially in the age of critically acclaimed games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Elden Ring , which have received praise for rejecting these Ubisoft-style open-world tre
So we know the world of Pandora is a beautiful and dangerous place as we see in the movies. It’s like jaw-dropping and then something jumps out and tries to kill you, and we have to balance this. How hostile is the wildlife? How do they seek? Because they have smell, they could seek you out. And there were definitely parts in development where we were tweaking it so that if you just stood and watched the stars, eventually some predator would sniff you out and come kill you and eat you for lunch, and then we tuned that. Which is probably realistic – that’s probably what would happen on Pand
Magnus Jansen: It’s a great question or a train of thought, because this was something that was very important to us from the start. Because starting out, it’s no secret if you know anything about video games history that when that movie-licensed video games or any licensed video game can be – it can turn out bad if you’re just looking for a quick cash grab or just a quick thing. And I’m super happy to say now, especially back then when we started, that in the first meetings with Lightstorm, James Cameron’s production company, it was super clear that they did not want to do that, a bad game or a quick, “Let’s just you redo the movie and so Hollywood hopefully can get some mon

The Way of Water introduces the underwater Spirit Tree of the aquatic Metkayina tribe. It functions similarly to the forest Na’vi’s Tree of Souls, but allows for certain Na’vi to manipulate the aquatic life that surrounds it, connecting them to the very ecosystem that they inhabit. Hopefully, Frontiers of Pandora will explore this concept even further. More Spirit Trees could be connected to different environments, allowing for new connections and abilities that are tied to the pla
At Ubisoft’s E3 Forward event, the first glimpse of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was shown. The game will draw from James Cameron’s critically acclaimed avatar frontiers Of pandora Mounts film and is confirmed to be a first-person action-adventure game. In it, the player will step into the shoes of a Na’vi and explore the Western side of the planet, which has never been seen before. It would be an enticing treat to run into some of these characters within Frontiers of Pandora, allowing you to interact with them for the first time. While we know that the game will explore new characters and locations, there’s always the possibility that its story could overlap with that of the films, letting you connect with some of the characters that we’ve already grown to know and l
Screen Rant interviewed the creative director of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Magnus Jansen to discuss bringing new depth to James Cameron’s world, balancing danger and beauty, and what will surprise fans most about the g
The good news is that, although it is tied to an existing franchise, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora presents an opportunity for Ubisoft to start fresh with a story and not worry about years of franchise baggage. Since Frontiers of Pandora will not be following film protagonist Jake Sully, Ubisoft can aim for a self-contained, satisfying, and simple story that doesn’t overextend itself the same way that Assassin’s Creed does with overly complex conspiracies, time travel elements, and poorly planned science-fiction concepts. Ubisoft will probably want to leave the door open for a Frontiers of Pandora sequel, but that doesn’t mean that a gratifying and conclusive narrative can’t be achieved in a single g
