As always with these year-end lists, I didn’t play everything in 2018 that I would have liked to, so take that into account before you yell at me in the comments and tell me that my list sucks or whatever. Similar to most Nintendo fans, putting Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on my end-of-the-year list was a no-brainer. The game’s new characters are fantastic, its quality-of-life updates are palatable, and most importantly, I don’t have a reason to keep my Wii U plugged in anymore. What more can I say, it’s Smash; it’s the tried-and-true formula made better than ever.

Luckily, this weaker slate of games finally allowed me to return a bit more to my backlog and play some titles from past years that I’ve been putting off for far too long.
