What is Commonly Referred to as Internal Bra Surgery?
An internal bra lift is often described as a procedure that provides additional support to the breasts using a surgical mesh or scaffold. The aim is to reinforce the breast tissue and maintain shape over time, particularly for patients experiencing due to weight loss, pregnancy, or ageing.
However, as Mr Cavale explains, the term bra’ can be misleading. “There is no single procedure that functions exactly like a bra inside the body,” he says. “The term has been used in marketing, but in reality, different techniques and materials can be used to provide additional support when necessary.”
Why the Term ‘Internal Bra’ Can Be Misleading
While some surgeons may use a synthetic or biological mesh to reinforce breast tissue, this is not a universal or necessary approach for all patients. The idea that an internal structure can permanently hold the breasts in place, preventing sagging indefinitely, is not entirely accurate. Mesh (especially some permanent, synthetic meshes) can have long-term implications and make future surgery very difficult, or even impossible.
“There are various surgical techniques that provide support, but they must be carefully chosen based on a patient’s unique anatomy and needs,” Mr Cavale notes. “A one-size-fits-all approach does not exist, and patients should be wary of claims that suggest otherwise.”
What Does Mr Cavale Recommend Instead?
Rather than relying on a so-called internal bra lift,’ Mr Cavale takes a customised approach to breast enhancement. He uses well-established surgical techniques that provide effective and natural results. These may include:
“The key to successful breast surgery is understanding the individual’s needs and choosing the right combination of techniques,” says Mr Cavale. “For some patients, an internal support structure may be beneficial, but for most, a well-executed bespoke solution will provide the desired outcome without the need for additional mesh.”
