15 Red Dead Redemption 2 Side Quests That Make Players Rich (And 10 That Aren’t Worth It)

If you want to make sure that the public stays in your favour, make sure that you unequip all weapons before striking up a conversation with an NPC. If you don’t, you may accidentally pull one out and the people within the game do not take too kindly to finding themselves in such a risky predicament. Citizens will either react in fear or anger and these reactions will remove the ability to continue conversation with them entirely. Heed my words. Unequip your weap

It was finding all of the Riddler trophies in Batman: Arkham Knight . For Breath of the Wild , it was completing all the shrines before facing Ganon. In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt , my favorite part of the game were its fascinating side quests, especially the boxing matches in each region: that all culminated in fighting Skellige’s champion, a straight up bear. All of these goals bubble up and become the most memorable parts of these grandiose games to me.

In-game journals or logs in other games often have the appearance of life, thanks to talented teams, but none feel like living, breathing books like Arthur’s does. Drake’s notes in the Uncharted series are filled with doodles and charm that is signature to Drake’s personality, but its in-game purpose is usually to solve simple puzzles more than to flesh out the characters. During my brief time with Mass Effect , the Codex was easily my favorite bit since it filled out the history of the galaxy, but it lacked a personal anchor point.

One of the most affecting examples of this for my playthrough in Red Dead Redemption 2 was when I came across a house after finishing a race with a stranger. I went into the house curious if there was anything inside, such as the seemingly endless amount of cigarette cards. Inside, there was a father and son having a tense confrontation over the father’s wasteful habits that caused his wife to leave them. While leaving, the boy discovered my hiding place and ran to his room. The father pulled out a gun, so I naturally killed him and proceeded to loot the location as muscle memory kicked in for every other location in the game.

Geology for Beginners is a stranger mission given to you by the maybe time-traveling Francis Sinclair, who tasks you with finding various rock carvings. Unlike the dreaded dinosaur bones which take forever, this is over in no time at all. After finding just one carving, you are paid $10 (and a bottle of bourbon). And after five, you are given a rock statue which can be sold to a fence for $50. All told, you are given a cool $60 after finding just five rock carvings, which shouldn’t take very long (provided you use a guide.) Plus you get to see all the trippy engravings, so it’s a win-

This option, in and of itself, goes against the narrative of Red Dead Redemption 2 patch notes Dead Redemption 2 , which focuses on Arthur’s search for altruism, that he is trying to be a good person. This dissonance is not felt significantly until the very end, where Arthur has decided to follow an altruistic road, but when in the open world the player can still choose to kill and steal from civilians, contradicting the character’s arc.

But it doesn’t have to be. Throughout the game there are many interesting side quests you can partake in, many of which don’t take too long and pay quite handsomely. But there are also those quests that don’t pay at all, or pay very little in return for the necessary amount of work. Sure, they can fun through a gameplay or story perspective, but they are next to useless if your goal is acquiring mo

Now if you want to sell some stolen goods, wagons are a great investment. You can sell stolen wagons to the fence in Emerald Ranch, and lucky for you, the roads near the ranch are absolutely littered with wagons. All you need to do is camp out in the grass, wait for a wagon to spawn (which may only take a few minutes,) and then proceed to steal it and sell it. The whole ordeal is over in five minutes, and you net yourself a cool $40. Of course, this will lower your honor, but hey, no one said life in the Wild West was e

Smoking and Other Hobbies is a collector’s dream, but a nightmare for more casual players. Arthur encounters a man named Phineas T. Ramsbottom outside Flatneck Station, who tells Arthur that premium cigarette cards are worth good money. There are 144 of these cards to collect throughout the map, and they’re scattered all over the place. Finding them all is really monotonous work, and it takes forever. After finding all 144, you are given a mere $200. This may sound like a lot, but finding all the cards takes HOURS of work. And yes, you can buy premium cigarettes and amass the cards, but this isn’t ideal for a cash-strapped player. At a hefty $5 a pack, you would be spending more than you would be making, and that’s just bad busina woman in a top hat with blood on her face
