After traveling through the Bloodstone Demon Door, Fable 2 players are transported to a peaceful, snowy path in the woods. If they follow the path, which looks like something from a Christmas painting, they eventually come to a cozy lodge nestled deep among the trees. Upon entering the lodge, things take a turn for the weird. A piercing music note signals the lodge turning into a dilapidated version of itself, complete with a skeleton lying on the kitchen ta
Perhaps it could be as simple as just changing the type of fabric for your belt or the type of grain for your wooden bow, or maybe it could be more complex, such as Red Dead Redemption 2 in which you apply engravings, markings, leather straps, etc. Maybe even taking heed from Jedi: Fallen Order and applying different styles to specific weapon pa
Crackdown 3 is promising a level of destructibility that we haven’t really seen in gaming before, and it will be exciting to see if it can pull it off while also delivering a compelling open world experie
Given the current Hollywood craze for comic book movies, now is the perfect time for a movie version of inFAMOUS . This open world game casts players as Cole McGrath, a bike courier who gains electricity-based superpowers when he’s caught at the center of a devastating explosion. After the smoke clears, Cole is faced with the choice to either become a superhero and save the citizens of Empire City, or use his powers to become a supervillain and make people fear and despise him. No matter which path you pick, this is one comic book style video game that we definitely want to see on f
That leads us to one big candidate: Playground Games, makers of the recently released and well-received Xbox-exclusive Forza Horizon , who have been known to be working on an open-world RPG for Microsoft for some time. Job postings by Playground indicate they are looking for artists and programmers with experience in these fields and Horizons was itself an open world game, just with cars instead of swords and hor
Further exploration of Andale reveals that the “strange meat” its townspeople eat is actually human flesh, and that the town is run by inbred cannibals. Upon making this startling discovery, players are then attacked by the people of Andale, unless they have the Cannibal perk, in which case they are accepted by the twisted community as one of their
While it would be great to see Albion rendered in 4k, a change of scenery from the European-inspired biomes of so many traditional fantasy RPGs would be welcome. The Coral Forest from the recent Monster Hunter: World is a terrific example of a totally new type of game environment that still feels real and plausible within the confines of the world. Given Fables storybook aesthetic, something similarly creative would be awesome to
While the previous 3 games have been loosely open-world with linear paths and sections, the fact that we’ve seen Playground Games offer a vast open-world with Forza Horizon 4 points to us getting something massive for Fable. Additionally, with the focus on SSD power these days , it’s likely we’ll see a seamless world that’s relatively free of loading scre
These 10 games and many others are sure to make E3 2017 a can’t-miss event for gamers. And while the games on this list are highly likely to be at E3 in some capacity, it’s worth noting that the show is usually filled with surprises as well, meaning that the most exciting game at E3 might not even be announced
One big omission from the Fable games of yore was the implementation of player-ridden mounts like horses. While there is a certain appeal to being forced to travel through the game world on foot, personally I find that I miss a lot of detail and off-the-beaten-path stuff when I’m racing past everything at 100 km/h, the thought that Fable 4 won’t have some kind of mounted beasts is n
And really, Peter Molyneux, for all his broken promises and enormous aspirations, is an innovator. He’s proven his enchantment with taking well-tread ideas and making them into something unexpected. Populous remains one of the most important Adventure Games Treasure Maps of all time, and that couldn’t have happened without some desire to step beyond the established setting. Fable to a lesser extent and certainly with the Milo demo, Peter Molyneux hasn’t made anything flat-out terrible in decades. But his tendency to get excited about his new ideas so much has led to a negative perception of who he is: many in the gaming community consider him a dreamer, not a doer. Quite frankly, I think that’s unfair to say. Some companies are perfectly content with what they’re doing in gaming, but Molyneux has proven time and again that he’s never satisfied with his creations. He’s always reaching further, even if his eagerness to progress has made him despise the past and ignore the present in awkwardly narrow-sighted ways.
Fable was one of my favourite standout games from the classic Xbox generation. Since its launch in 2004, the game offered players an RPG with choices that affected the protagonist in both popularity across the game’s world and the character’s physical appearance. The success from the original title led to Fable II and Fable III with each game offering different ways of playing while keeping the core “your choices matter” play at heart. Fable II had a dog while Fable III found itself pushing more moral choices to the player as they managed a city and its polit
